HASTINGS, SEAN
Sean Hastings, 88, was born in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland to John and Nora (nee O’Malley) Hastings. He passed away on July 23, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Sean worked for Harza Engineering Company in Chicago for nearly 40 years, rising to Secretary-Treasurer, later Corporate Secretary. He was a founding member of Chicago Gaelic Park, Past-President and a life-time member of the Gaelic Athletic Association, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Sean loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was cherished by all. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and treasured his time on the golf course.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Kathleen “Kay”(nee Larkin); his loving children, James, John (Joan), Brian (Mary Kay), Kevin, Sheila Stephani, and Colleen (Mike) Van Ham; fond daughter-in-law Mary; his cherished grandchildren Amy, Megan, Kate, Sean, Ryan, Erin, Tara, Michael, Mallory, Kelsey, Rachel, Nick, Alana and Callen; and his dear siblings Michael (Bridie), Ursula (Alan) Berney, Margaret Ita (Dean) Hanson, and Frank (Mary); and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Sean was preceded in death by his siblings Patrick (the late Violet) Hastings, Mary (the late Bill) Wright, Gabriel Kelley, and Nancy (the late Thomas (“Con”)) Cusack.
Visitation 3:00 PM to 8:00PM, Monday, July, 27, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights. Prayers 10:45 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd., Prospect Heights, for Funeral Mass 11:30 AM. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
